Past continuous


PAST CONTINUOUS


It is time to continue............ with  the past continuous tense.

The past continuous tense is used to describe actions that began in the past and often continued for a short period of time after the action started. This tense describes actions or events that happened at specific time in the past.

Do not forget:

Past continuous is formed by:


Verb to be (in simple past)  + main verb in ING ending.

I    was sleeping        yesterday at 7.00 o'clock in the morning.
Yo estaba dormida    ayer a las 7.00 de la mañana.

He   was running         when the accident happened.
El    estaba corriendo  cuando ocurrió el accidente.

They   were cooking           a delicious pasta in the morning.
Ellos   estaban cocinando   una pasta deliciosa en la mañana.

  • was teaching       =     estaba enseñando
  • were playing        =     estaban / estábamos  jugando
  • was eating           =     estaba comiendo
  • were dreaming    =     estaban soñando /estábamos soñando
  • was dancing        =     estaba bailando

She               +          was        +      main verb in ING ending.

We                       were        +      main verb in ING ending.
